Coronation Street’s cult storyline end date ‘revealed’ — and fans don’t have to wait long

Coronation Street’s Rowan has caused plenty of drama on the cobbles – but it appears the end could be near for his mysterious “self-improvement group” The Institute.

Coronation Street’s harrowing cult storyline could be coming to an end soon. Earlier this year, viewers were introduced to the mysterious “self-improvement group” The Institute. The cult, led by Rowan Cunliffe (played by Emhrys Cooper) caught the eye of cobbles resident Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

And it didn’t take long for her to join – much to the concern of fiancee Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor), who have all shared their concerns over Leanne.

And much to their dismay, the Institute has a hold over Leanne, who has since introduced Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) to the group.

Unbeknownst to Toyah, Leanne has been sharing her and her sister’s deepest secrets with Rowan, who then uses this information against her. Meanwhile, Toyah has been dealing with her own struggles.

After confiding in Nick about the loss of her stillborn daughter Rose, the pair found themselves growing closer and ended up sleeping together.

Rowan witnessed their intimate moment and used it to blackmail Toyah into signing a non-disclosure agreement to keep quiet about the institute. However, this hasn’t stopped Toyah from investigating The Institute further.

However, it appears that the storyline – which has ruffled plenty of feathers – could be wrapping up soon, following uproar from fans.

Actor Emrhys Cooper who plays sinister Rowan, recently took to his Instagram Story to share the news that he will be appearing in an upcoming pantomime.

Emrhys is playing Prince Fredrick in the St Helens Theatre Royal’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Due to the stint running from November 30, 2024 – January 15, 2025, it’s believed Emrhys will be away for two months from filming the ITV soap.

What’s more, Corrie usually films around six weeks in advance, which could mean the cult storyline could end around September time.
