Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) has had a terrible time over the past few months on Coronation Street, and her health has really suffered. In upcoming episodes this shows no signs of improving as Nick (Ben Price) once again takes her to hospital.

Recently Toyah collapsed with stomach pains and Nick rushed her to the hospital, where she made the shock discovery that she was pregnant. Nick admitted to David (Jack P. Shepherd) that the baby was his, after he and Toyah had given in to their growing feelings for each other.

Nick was the person Toyah confided in about Rose, the stillborn baby she gave birth to years ago after she was raped. Meanwhile Nick had been feeling pushed away by his partner Leanne (Jane Danson), who has becoming increasingly obsessed by the Institute cult she’s become involved in and the influence of its leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper).

It was inevitable that Toyah and Nick would start to get close. ‘They’ve both been there for each other these last few weeks when life has been really tough and those feelings are starting to get a little bit blurred,’ Georgia Taylor told us.

It transpired that Toyah wasn’t in fact pregnant with Nick’s baby after all. The pregnancy test was a false positive, caused by her possibly having ovarian cancer. This was obviously a devastating blow to both Toyah and Nick.

Toyah shared all this news with Leanne, telling her the pregnancy scare was a result of a one night stand with someone Leanne doesn’t know. Leanne promised to support her sister as much as possible as she went for tests to confirm whether she had cancer, but this was derailed by Rowan, who convinced her that the best way to support Toyah was to attend a session at the Institute.

In upcoming episodes Toyah hasn’t given up her mission to uncover exactly what is going on at the Institute and try and extricate her sister from the cult. She tries to dig for dirt about Rowan and makes a breakthrough when she finds his driving license in his jacket pocket and does a reverse image search of the picture online.

But in the middle of this she has to contend with another trip to hospital, with Nick once again by her side.

Is it the test results? Will it be good news for Toyah – or will her awful run of bad luck continue?
