The soaps will be shifted for football in the coming weeks.
The early weeks of Euro 2024 have affected all four shows, and now official schedules from BBC and ITV have revealed how they will continue to be impacted next week.
Following lots of recent changes, towards the end of this week, there will be less disruption for the ITV soaps. Emmerdale will screen its usual hour-long episode on Thursday, June 27, and both Emmerdale and Corrie will air as normal on Friday, June 28.
But there will be more changes next week, as neither soap will air on Monday, July 1 or Tuesday, July 2, with Portugal vs Slovenia and Austria vs Turkey being shown on ITV on these respective evenings.
There will be some normality on Wednesday, July 3, as both Emmerdale and Corrie will air at their usual times, and Emmerdale will return with its hour-long episode on Thursday, July 4.
But on Friday, July 5, there will be no Emmerdale or Corrie, making way for a night of football on ITV. It hasn’t yet been confirmed if there will be any soaps airing next weekend – in recent years, Corrie has been known to air on a Sunday evening to catch up following schedule changes.
Meanwhile, EastEnders will be shifting to BBC Two for certain episodes throughout the tournament. This has been a common occurrence for the Walford soap in recent years due to various summer sporting events on BBC One.
This week, the soap is airing daily from Tuesday to Friday, rather than its usual Monday to Thursday time slot.
There will be further disruption starting from next week, as alongside the Euros, Wimbledon will also get under way.
Because of this, EastEnders doesn’t air at all on Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2. BBC Two will air double bills of the show on Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4.
But fans of the Albert Square drama are likely to be less affected by the changes, with many viewers now accustomed to watching at their leisure on BBC iPlayer where episodes drop early at 6am.
As for Casualty, the disruption caused by the Euros, Wimbledon and Glastonbury means that the show is on a two-week break and will return later in July.
